Water Gardens

Water gardens are a very attractive feature. Adding a simple pond or creating a series of pools can give your garden it's own unique character. There are many options available, and even a small shallow bird bath type water feature will still be a great way to attract wildlife into your garden.

The following small guides should provide some useful advice.

Garden Pond Liners

Pond liners are supplied in the form of a flexible sheet, if you are not buying a pre-moulded rigid construction.

The sheet will either be Polypropylene or Rubber based.

Polypropylene pond liners come in a range of different materials and normally have a long or lifetime guarantee. They are usually UV stabilized, puncture resistant, environmentally friendly and will be flexible and easy to contour to the shape of your pond.

Rubber based liners are a more expensive solution, but they have greater durability and offer a more substantial end result. Due to their thickness rubber liners can be tricky to work with, but are still flexible and have a long or lifetime guarantee.

The size of liner you will depend on the dimensions of your pond. As a general guide, take the largest measurements of the hole you have dug for your pond and add double the deepest depth to each dimension. The basic principle is that is better to have slightly more than you need, as you can easily cut back, but not add to!
