Water Gardens

Water gardens are a very attractive feature. Adding a simple pond or creating a series of pools can give your garden it's own unique character. There are many options available, and even a small shallow bird bath type water feature will still be a great way to attract wildlife into your garden.

The following small guides should provide some useful advice.

Garden Pond Lights & Underwater Lighting

Lighting really adds a creative dimension to your pond at night.

You can use lighting to enhance a feature such as a fountain, or behind a waterfall. You can place them to illuminate the deeper regions of the pond, or placed them around the perimeter of the pond.

Special underwater lights can be purchased at many suppliers. The lights can be placed on the walls or on the bottom of the pond. It is worth considering lighting options when you are first creating the pond, as you can include specific alcoves and mounting locations at the point in time when installation will be easy, rather than having to drain the pool at a later date.

One light can illuminate quite a large area of the pool, although the larger your pond is, the more lighting that will need to illuminate the pond. It really depends on the effect you are trying to achieve. The pond might also benefit from a spotlight placed above it.

You can obtain lights that use different colours, this is down to personal choice.

You local supplier will be able to offer advice about the various units and kits available.
