Water Gardens
Water gardens are a very attractive feature. Adding a simple pond or creating a series of pools can give your garden it's own unique character. There are many options available, and even a small shallow bird bath type water feature will still be a great way to attract wildlife into your garden.
The following small guides should provide some useful advice.
Aquatic Plants - Bubble Fountains
Bubble fountains are easy to install and will offer all the attractive features of moving water and the sound of a small waterfall without the need to install a pond.
It is fairly easy to make this type of garden feature.
A quick summary is shown below.
- Sink a large waterproof container into the ground so the rim is flush with ground level.
- Install a submersible pump,
- Place a layer of small-grid, ridged mesh over the rim of the container.
- Cover it with pebbles, smooth round ones will be a more attractive feature.
- Fill the container with water.
- Then turn on the pump, and adjust the output to the flow of your choice
It is important to remember to keep the water level topped up in the container, as it will naturally evaporate. Also it will help to keep the water fresh.
