Water Gardens

Water gardens are a very attractive feature. Adding a simple pond or creating a series of pools can give your garden it's own unique character. There are many options available, and even a small shallow bird bath type water feature will still be a great way to attract wildlife into your garden.

The following small guides should provide some useful advice.

Aquatic Plants - Deep Water Plants

These types of plants are generally planted under the water about a foot or more deep.

Common examples are various varieties of lilies. The leaves of the plant will grow on the surface of the pond and help to keep pond life cool, and provide shelter and shade against direct sunlight.

Other examples are: Water hawthorn (aponogeton) is long flowering and fragrant. Prefers moving water and some shade. Golden club (orontium) best planted in a deep container. Flowers are yellow and white.
