Plant Care

All the plants you have in your garden and also inside the house, should be cared for correctly. This will ensure you get the best displays and long-life from them.

Dwarf hedges

Many formal hedges are created using Dwarf box as this is a traditional low hedging plant for knot gardens and vegetable beds. Other plants species such as rosemary and some of the shorter lavenders are equally suitable for creating a dwarf hedge.

This type of hedge will require strict and regular pruning as well as a lot of bending to ensure a regular and accurate shape. Use a guide to establish a clean outline and vertical sides. Trim twice a year, first in spring and again in mid-summer. If plants such as lavender are allowed to flower, delay the second cut until blooms fade.
