Garden Trimmer
To give your newly mowed garden lawn that finished look, you need a trimmer to tidy up the edges of your lawn, and reach into the areas of your garden the lawn mower was unable to get to.
The simplest way to keep the edges of your lawn in good shape is not to have too complicated a shape of lawn in the first place. It will be more accessible to the lawn mower, and less likely to be damaged. However, if you are working with an existing, already-planned garden, an electric trimmer will tackle this job for you.
A lawn trimmer or strimmer as they are sometimes referred to, will allow you to cut around small object, and walk along the edge of the lawn, removing the long grass.
Stepping stones and other obstacles can all cause damage to the blades of your lawn mower. A strimmer usually has a nylon cord, which is housed in a coil. Any damage the object does to the cord can be put right by pulling more cord out of the coil.
You may also find at the start of the year, it is worth using a spade to 'sharpen-up' the edges by taking an inch or so off the lawn edges. This will create crisp lawn edges, and make trimmer use easier.
For extensive use, or tougher jobs, you may want to consider a Brush Cutter. This is a much more capable garden tool, and whilst coping with edging, can also be used for clearing overgrown areas of the garden. As well as a nylon cord, brush cutters often come with metal blades.
